On October 19, the Faculty of Psychological and Pedagogical Education and Arts traditionally launched Pedagogy Week. It kicked off with a guest online lecture titled “Critical Thinking in Education in the Context of Cognitive Delegation to Artificial Intelligence.”

The event was moderated by Anzhelika Lesyk, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Pedagogy, and Dean of the Faculty of Psychological and Pedagogical Education and Arts. The keynote speaker was Olga Lebid, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor at the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of Alfred Nobel University (Dnipro). She engaged educators and students in a meaningful discussion on the challenges and opportunities of integrating AI technologies into modern educational processes.

During the meeting, participants explored the transformation of the path to knowledge, levels of cognitive delegation to algorithms, and Daniel Kahneman’s dual-system theory of thinking. Particular attention was paid to the psychological pitfalls of working with AI: confirmation bias, the cognitive ease of accepting ready-made text, and the vital understanding that the persuasiveness of an answer does not guarantee its accuracy.

The lecture provided valuable practical insights for both future specialists and practicing educators, reinforcing the key takeaway: in an era of rapid AI advancement, critical thinking begins long before receiving an answer-starting with framing the right question and striving for a deep comprehension of the subject matter.

Many more discoveries lie ahead, as modern education demands continuous development and cognitive flexibility. We keep moving forward and look forward to seeing you at future events organized by the Department of Pedagogy!
