On October 20, the Faculty of Psychological and Pedagogical Education and Arts hosted a practice-oriented online meeting titled “World Without Borders: Global Competence of a Junior Schoolchild.”
The meeting was moderated by the Dean of the Faculty, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Pedagogy, Anzhelika Lesyk. The invited speaker of the event was a BSPU graduate, certified primary school teacher, regional trainer of the “Osvitoria” NGO course “NUSh Reload: Grades 1-4”, educational blogger, and webinar speaker from “Vseosvita” LLC, Ilona Saksonik. The guest invited teachers and students to take a fresh look at the formation of life skills in primary education learners, specifically through the prism of transitioning “from an ordinary life situation to a competence-based action.”
During the interactive engagement, attendees focused on the essence of the modern globalized world that surrounds a student every day in the simplest life contexts. The audience mastered effective approaches for transforming typical educational tasks into practice-oriented cases aimed at developing agency, critical perception of information, and the ability to make informed choices.
Ilona Saksonik masterfully managed to convince the audience that a globally competent learner is not someone who possesses encyclopedic knowledge about the entire world, but rather someone who knows how to ask questions, notice a different point of view, verify information, and make balanced choices in everyday life.
Pedagogy Week continues, bringing new insights, inspiration, and modern methodological tools!
