On 29 October 2026, the Department of Foreign Languages and Teaching Methods of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Berdyansk State Pedagogical University opened the I All-Ukrainian Student Research and Practice Conference “LINGUANOVA-2026: Language, Education, Innovation.” The conference is being held online via Zoom and brings together students and researchers from higher education institutions across Ukraine.

More than 40 participants joined the conference, including bachelor’s and master’s students and their research supervisors from the following institutions:

  • Berdyansk State Pedagogical University;
  • Vinnytsia Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi State Pedagogical University;
  • T. H. Shevchenko National University “Chernihiv Colehium”;
  • Kharkiv Humanitarian-Pedagogical Academy of Kharkiv Regional Council;
  • National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic.”

Participants were welcomed by Maryna Bohdanova, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities; Tetiana Lysenko, Deputy Dean for Research; and Iryna Shkola, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages and Teaching Methods. They emphasized the importance of student research and wished the young researchers inspiration, bold ideas and productive academic work.

The plenary session featured engaging and well-researched presentations:

  • Dmytro Poberezhnyi, “Revolutionizing Foreign Language Acquisition: Facebook-Based EFL and GFL Blended Learning”;
  • Mariia Skrypchenko (supervisor: Iryna Shymanovych), “Interactive Approaches to Teaching English in Specialized Upper Secondary Education”;
  • Yuliia Musiienko (supervisor: Oksana Dubrova), “Podcasts as a Means of Teaching English Listening and Speaking in High School”;
  • Daryna Khyzhniak (supervisor: Iryna Shymanovych), “Red, Green and Sacred: The Visual Language of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein (2025).”

After the plenary session, participants worked in five thematic sections:

  • modern linguistics, intercultural communication and translation studies in the age of artificial intelligence;
  • digital technologies and gamification in foreign language teaching;
  • innovative methods of developing foreign language communicative competence;
  • the educational environment: inclusion, safety, and social-emotional learning;
  • literature in multicultural and digital spaces.

The presentations covered a wide range of topics. Karolina Lymar analyzed the typology and pragmatic consequences of machine failures, namely semantic deviations in modern machine translation systems. Nazar Mulchenko spoke about the specifics of translating English phraseological units with the somatic component “teeth.” Iryna Khotska presented her research on integrating media education into the teaching of world literature in general secondary schools.

The presentations were engaging and thorough, and each one sparked lively discussion. Students asked questions and shared their own experience, while research supervisors and lecturers offered expert comments and advice. Participants left warm feedback about the conference, and their enthusiasm has inspired the organizers to make LINGUANOVA an annual event.

The Organizing Committee sincerely thanks all speakers, research supervisors and attendees for their active participation. We wish our young researchers new discoveries and every success in their academic pursuits!
