On November 10, 2025, the international professional development course “Peer Review in the Era of Open and Reproducible Science: New Challenges and Opportunities” was launched. The event is organised by Open4UA – Open Science for Ukrainian Higher Education System, the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of the NAES of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Reproducibility Network, and the University of Ljubljana.

During the opening session, the course programme and organisational details were presented, along with speakers representing leading universities and scientific organisations across Europe, including: the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Delft University of Technology (Netherlands), EIFL – Electronic Information for Libraries (European library and research network), University of Latvia (Latvia), University of Oxford (United Kingdom), ENS Paris-Saclay (France), as well as major Ukrainian educational institutions – Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University, Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, Lviv Polytechnic National University, and the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.

The first lecture, “Key Concepts of Reproducible Science”, was delivered by Prof. Pavlo Zhezhnych (Lviv Polytechnic National University). Participants discussed modern approaches to open science, data and code verification practices, and methods to ensure reproducibility of research findings.

The course provides an opportunity to deepen knowledge in open science and open peer review, data and methodology verification, international reproducibility standards, effective feedback practices, and the use of digital and AI tools for reviewers, as well as ethics and integrity in peer review. It is designed for researchers, reviewers, editors, and all members of the academic community seeking to improve their competencies and adopt best global practices in open and reproducible science.

I am personally delighted to join this course – it is a unique opportunity to gain new knowledge, learn from leading European experts, and apply these insights in my own academic work.
