Within the National Barrier-Free Week, which is held in Ukraine from May 25 to May 31, 2026, the interuniversity round table «Roadmap to accessibility: challenges and solutions» took place. The event brought together representatives of higher education institutions of Ukraine and international partners to discuss current issues in developing a barrier-free educational environment.
Leading higher education institutions of Ukraine took part in the organization and work of the event, including Poltava V. G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, State Institution «South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky», A. S. Makarenko Sumy State Pedagogical University, Municipal Higher Educational Institution «Khortytsia National Educational and Rehabilitation Academy» of Zaporizhzhia Regional Council, Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University, Mykhailo Drahomanov Ukrainian State University, Ukrainian Institute for Education Development, among which was Berdiansk State Pedagogical University, as well as international and public organizations: Família Kolping em Lisboa Associação (Portugal) and the NGO «Ukrainian Association of Special Education Specialists».
Active participation in the round table was taken by representatives of BSPU, in particular the Dean of the Faculty of Preschool, Special and Social Education, PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor Yevheniia Lyndina, as well as lecturers of the Department of Applied Psychology and Speech Therapy and the Department of Social Work and Inclusive Education.
Within the event, a presentation was delivered by PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Psychology and Speech Therapy, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Preschool, Special and Social Education, and Head of the Competence Center for Inclusive Education, Alina Synytsia, on the topic “Competence Center for Inclusive Education of Berdiansk State Pedagogical University: Experience of Implementation and Development Prospects.” The report highlighted the key areas of the Center’s activities, practical experience in implementing inclusive initiatives, and prospects for further development of a barrier-free educational environment.
The round table served as an important platform for professional dialogue, exchange of experience, and development of effective solutions in the field of accessible and inclusive education in Ukraine.
Such events confirm that barrier-freeness is not only a strategic goal but also a daily collective action that gradually shapes an open, humane, and equitable educational space in which everyone has the opportunity to realize their potential.
