On October 19, 2026, first-cycle (Bachelor’s) higher education students of various years of full-time and part-time study in specialty B6 Performing Arts (024 Choreography), enrolled in the professional degree programme “Choreography,” took part in a unique joint creative project with the ballet artists of the Academic Cossack Song and Dance Ensemble “Zaporozhtsi”: a professional skills lesson held at the Zaporizhzhia Regional Philharmonic. The lesson was led by Oleh Kravets, ballet master-choreographer and Honored Artist of Ukraine.

The programme of the lesson included:

  • an introduction to the specific features of the choreographic culture of the Zaporizhzhia region;
  • practical work on elements of classical and Ukrainian folk dance;
  • work on performance technique, coordination, plasticity, and expressiveness of movement;
  • mastering elements of dance and stunt technique;
  • direct professional interaction and exchange of experience with ballet artists.

The students were accompanied at the lesson by Viktoriia Oleniak, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Choreography and Fitness.

In-person events hold special significance for students of choreography. At a time when the educational process at a temporarily relocated higher education institution mostly takes place remotely, direct interaction in the studio allows students to work with the instructor and professional performers face to face and to receive feedback and technique correction in real time. Such meetings are an important part of the practical training of all students, regardless of their form of study. They implement the principle of practice-oriented learning, contribute to the development of professional competencies, and strengthen cooperation between the university and arts institutions of the region.

It was a wonderful opportunity for future choreography professionals to join the professional dance community, learn from the experience of the artists, discover new facets of performance mastery, feel the energy of shared creativity, and take another step toward their own choreographic growth!
