Participation in university community work events has become a tradition for the Department of Vocational Education and Technologies of the FMKTO Faculty. The Easter community work event of 2026, titled “The Light That Lives Within Us,” was no exception.
Together with the active members of the creative student community of technology majors, a series of university-level activities was developed under the guidance of PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Yuliia Bielova-Oliinyk.
The Easter event began with the presentation of a large-scale creative project, “Christ is Risen – Ukraine Will Rise Too,” dedicated to transforming steel shell casings from combat ammunition through the delicate art of Ukrainian folk painting—Petrykivka painting. The author and creator of the project, Kateryna Tkach, a student majoring in “Labor Education and Technologies,” demonstrated a creative approach to crafting iron talismans. The sale of these items provides invaluable financial support for our brave defenders.
As a result of the work of the student club “Creative Design,” whose members include nearly all students of the educational and professional program “Labor Education and Technologies,” an exhibition of creative projects titled “Easter Kaleidoscope” was organized, dedicated to traditional Easter themes. Among the exhibits were traditional pysanky (Easter eggs), Easter breads, embroidered towels, and icons, as well as creative Easter-themed projects made using various decorative and applied arts and design techniques. The works were created by: Sofiia Dmukhailo, Yevhen Krasnoshchok, Snizhana Svina, Andrii Torovets, Anastasiia Artomova, Olena Tytar, Valeriia Kurochka, Oleksandr Yaropovetskyi, Kateryna Tkach, Tamila Varha, Kristina Vasylynets, Oksana Tretiak, Viktoriia Traiduk, Nataliia Krupii, Hanna Trehub, Ivan Sharko, Iryna Shander, Artem Snisar, Yuliia Yakimova, Anzhela Stankevych, Bohdan Shumatskyi, Kateryna Panasiuk, Maryna Savchuk, and Inna Chuhai.
No community work event is complete without original workshops. This year, the university community had the opportunity to take a mini-course in Petrykivka painting, developed and conducted by third-year part-time student Kateryna Tkach. She taught participants how to make the main tool of this painting technique—the “koshachka” brush: , revealed the secrets of paint preparation, and demonstrated professional brushstroke techniques. Alongside the practical part of the workshop, participants learned many interesting facts about the history of Petrykivka painting, its artistic features, and its significance in Ukrainian cultural heritage.
Yuliia Bielova-Oliinyk, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences and Associate Professor of the Department of Vocational Education and Technologies, shared her creative design developments by proposing to add a modern Easter atmosphere to home interiors through creating an upcycling decoration “Easter Lamb” and a spring composition using stabilized plants.
Bachelor’s student Kristina Vasylynets impressed visitors of her workshop “Runner – The Code of Ukraine” with an original didactic development of a national-cultural orientation. Guests had the opportunity to learn about table runners, the technology of their creation, and creative decoration options for festive table settings. The presented development sparked lively discussions among both students and professors, including suggestions to patent this technological and methodological innovation.
The pre-Easter week concluded with a very delicate floristry workshop “Easter Beauty,” presented to the university community by Kateryna Tkach. Participants were introduced to techniques for arranging floral compositions that can decorate homes and symbolize the arrival of spring and the awakening of nature.
Our creative technological family warmly поздравляє everyone on the upcoming Easter and invites you to future meetings to once again prove that technologies are truly exciting!
